A connected, intimate marriage provides your children with a secure home, emotionally connected parents and a loving environment where the people they love and need the most really care about their hearts. This is what children need to be secure, growing, loving Christians themselves.
We've been married 28 years and some of it was spent in the endurance mode--it wasn't all bad but we readily admit that at times it was difficult. We have four precious children, (two are married so there's also a son-in-law, grandson and a daughter-in-law) and both sets of our parents live close by and are a part of our lives. Tom is an Occupational Therapist for California Children's Services and Judy homeschools our youngest daughter and ministers to SDA homeschoolers through Adventist Home Educator, so we have a full, busy life. Our marriage wasn't fantastic, but then we didn't know anyone else's whose was either. We knew something was missing and couldn't put a finger on a specific problem and didn't know where else to turn for information or help since various seminars and numerous books hadn't provided the answer.
Our marriage relationship has been a matter of prayer for a long time and we had been looking for information. We've read all the books about love languages, barriers, venus and mars, and much more. We also attended many seminars, encounters and conferences, tried gimmicks and games, yet nothing provided lasting results.
In the summer of 2004 while attending Redwood Camp Meeting a pastor shared half of a series entitled Rekindling Marital Intimacy and suddenly not only did we have hope we found an explanation for everything that we had been experiencing. This was just what we had been looking for and we felt God's leading that this information contained the Biblical principles that we needed to make a difference.
We watched Rekindling Marital Intimacy DVD’s and did the corresponding workbook from Biblical Concepts in Counseling, attended a seminar and received counseling. We can honestly say we will never again be the same individuals or couple. This program showed us how to take down the walls that we’d built between ourselves and God and each other and how to identify past damage and connect our hearts to true emotional intimacy and it only took two month! We’ve had a life changing experience and our marriage is now connected as it never has been in the past 28 years. We've left the endurance mode and entered enjoy!
We use the concepts that we have learned through Biblical Concepts in Counseling to minister to couples and share that God never planned for marriage to be frustrating! We have been through this series ourselves and received counseling that changed our lives. Because of the miracle God performed in our lives we are blessed to share this with others.
God has richly blessed our marriage and enabled us to learn how to help couples develop spiritual, emotional and physical intimacy in their marriages. Unresolved Emotional Issues, Spiritual Issues, Strongholds, Blind Spots, Generational Issues and Pressure Patterns are all areas that the enemy uses to damage relationships and keep us from being effective growing Christians, connected marriage partners and loving parents.
Our desire is to help you be the individuals that God planned and for your marriage be the blessing that God planned. What we experienced has impacted our lives so much that we took the training necessary to minister to couples through weekend workshops and counseling. Our oldest daughter and son-in-law have joined us in ministering to couples and use their experience as life trainers to coach couples.
