Nebraska
In Nebraska, we have to submit Rule 13- that the requirements for school
approval and accreditation required by law violate sincerely held religions
beliefs. (It sort of does, considering what's available.) Now one can also
file under Rule 12- that the requirements interfere with decisions in directing
the child's education. Under Rule 12, one must keep immunization records.
Attendance records should be kept for both. Once a year both parents and their
designated representative submit a notarized form of their intent for that
person to school their child/children. The representative (usually a
parent) submits a form giving children's names, ages, the rep's ed. background,
(no degrees required), curriculum to be used- must include language arts, math,
social studies, science, and health/safety. Also included are hours to be
taught each month totaling 1080 hours/year for
secondary and 1032 hours for elementary students. We must file for
children 7-16 years of age as of Sept. 1. The state reserves the right to
visit or require testing. (They haven't done either in our 8 years of
homeschooling.) The Nebraska Christian Home Educator's website is: http://www.nchea.org/
Hope this is helpful.
